8 SECRET DEVICES THE POLICE USE TO FIGHT CRIME

We all know that the cops have a lot of special tricks that they use to catch criminals and a lot of the devices they use are available for pretty much anyone to pick up for themselves. We’re revealing 10 secret devices the police use to fight crime and you can pick up most of the items featured if you want to try them out for yourself. ► Subscribe For New Videos! https://goo.gl/FQqpG8 Watch our "10 FASTEST ELECTRIC CARS IN THE WORLD" video here https://youtu.be/pMgpfB4jTcU Watch our "5 Most Crazy Military Machines Ever Made" video here https://youtu.be/3zYmT4JGEFE Watch our "5 EXTREME MACHINES You Just Have To Ride" video here https://youtu.be/wzMEIvJ8W3w Starchase This awesome device is a new type of vehicle tagging system that’s much less lethal than its predecessors. It relieves the need for police to engage in high speed chases with fleeing suspects by allowing them to attach the device to the suspect’s car, which then actively tracks their location. The tag is a small device that’s covered in a thick, sticky material and includes a GPS locator and transmitter. It’s fired from a launcher attached to the front of the police car and uses compressed air to launch itself toward the target vehicle. Once attached, police can more easily intercept the target’s path and put less people in danger at the same time. NET BARRIER AND CABLE BARRIERS This crash-rated net is an easy way for law enforcement and anyone else to set up a blockade that can easily and safely stop a runaway vehicle. The system can stop a vehicle weighing up to 1500 pounds that’s also going at 50 mph without injuring the driver or causing any structural damage to the surrounding area. Once it’s activated, the net barrier is pulled tight across the road in order to position it directly in front of the target vehicle. From there, the vehicle is trapped in the net, which is woven to provide maximum elasticity and stopping power. This system can also use a set of woven cables to achieve the same effect. BOLAWRAP 100 LASSO GUN This ingenious device employs the same techniques used by bolas, which are ancient throwing weapons. Once released towards the target, they spin through the air, assisted by weights on each end of a long rope. When it hits its target, the weights continue to move, wrapping themselves tightly and inhibiting movement. The modern equivalent shoots an eight foot kevlar tether at a speed of 640 feet per second. Its effective operating distance reaches around 10 to 15 feet and it works wonders at stopping a fleeing suspect dead in their tracks without actually hurting them. NET GUN The net gun is a lot like a souped up version of the bolawrap 100 lasso gun and is used by all sorts of people and not just law enforcement. Animal control, for example, uses these nets to subdue unruly animals and make sure they don’t get bitten while trying to restrain them. The capture distance of the net gun’s net is 9 metres and it weighs almost nothing at 1kg. All of the nets are reusable as long as they aren’t too damaged and the gun uses CO2 cartridges to ‘cast’ the net out with a rush of compressed air. The net’s coverage space is 16 square metres, which is more than enough for a large animal or a police suspect who’s unwilling to cooperate.. Shotspotter This handy device is a handy tool for police to use, especially when you consider the fact that a solid 80% of all gunshot incidents are never reported directly to police. What the shotspotter does is make it easy for them to locate any and all gunshots within a given area, allowing them to properly respond even if they aren’t given an immediate heads up. The shotspotter uses an array of sensors set up in strategic locations around an area that constantly monitor noise levels. When a gun is fired, the sensors identify it as a potential gunshot and notifies a review team of its exact location. The data is then analyzed further so the team can pinpoint exactly how police should proceed and how many active shooters there are at the scene. Pretty cool, right?
