LG G6 Cinematic Video Test! | 4K Hike in Colorado Springs, Colorado!

I planned on saying everything that is below in the video itself, but it didn't work out, so here are my impressions from this test. My family and I recently got back from a short trip to Colorado Springs, Colorado. We decided to go on a hike one day and I thought it would be a cool idea to take the G6 along and see what type of footage I could get out of the dual cameras on the back (keep in mind the G6 has one standard camera and one wide angle camera). I shot all of the footage in 4K resolution and in Auto mode. I know the G6 has a manual video mode so I probably could have gotten a little bit better footage out of it, but we were in a hurry throughout the hike and I didn't have time to constantly be adjusting settings on the fly. The first thing that immediately jumped out at me from the clips was just how shaky the handheld footage was when using the wide angle lens on the G6. If you look at the clip at 0:25 it really bounces all over of the place and that’s because the wide-angle lens is lacking optical image stabilization, which is crucial to getting smooth handheld shots. The regular lens does have OIS and I didn’t notice any major problems with it. For example, the first shots where we were driving up the bumpy road in the car looks fine. Regardless of the shaky footage, I was really impressed with the overall quality of the clips. All of them were very sharp in 4K with plenty of detail and the colors were naturally really good. I just did some minor adjustments with the Final Cut Pro color correction effect to make it a little bit more contrasty and have a slightly more cinematic look, but again, the unedited footage still looks fine. The dynamic range was mostly fine. There was one shot at 0:22 where the sky was a little blown out and it took a second to adjust but other than that it was okay. The shot at 0:34 was a test for the depth of field of that F2.0 aperture, and you can see that the branch is clearly in focus with the background nice and blurred out, which is really nice to see. That’s the type of look a lot of people want out of their DSLRs so to see that on a smartphone is very impressive. Also, this shot was a test for the autofocus as it transitioned from the branch to the trail, and it only took about a second or so which is pretty good. I already mentioned how the wide angle lens doesn’t have optical image stabilization, which is a bit of a disappointment, but if you can look past that, having this lens is an amazing addition to the phone. It’s really able to give a shot a completely different look and feel depending on what you’re going for and I think it really excels when shooting landscapes because you’re able to see so much more than you can with the regular lens. Keep in mind that the wide angle lens has a 125-degree field of view while the field of view on the normal camera is only 71 degrees. There is some minor distortion around the corners of the screen and you can kind of see that when the shot is panning at 1:07 and that’s only going to be emphasized in smaller spaces, but when outdoors there shouldn’t be too much of a problem. If you're interested in shooting video on your phone I can highly recommend the LG G6. It has great quality on the regular lens, and the wide angle lens is only gonna give you more flexibility when shooting. ---------- Support the channel by shopping at Amazon: http://ift.tt/2suCNwl...
