When the memory chip is not linked with all vital signals to the controller, the controller is not going to be able to work with the chip. Even if one of those signals loses connection, the device (memory card in our case here) will fall into a "safe mode". Memory card wrong size detection is one of the best clues that flash memory devices can produce. Once the connection is reestablished, the device should come back to life again.
